Florence Quist, 88

Florence Quist, 88, died Dec. 2, 2008, in Butte
Convalescent Center.
She was born Jan. 23, 1920, in Dawson, Minn., to Obert and Jentine Wallem. She
graduated from Dawson High School in 1937 and in the spring of 1938 became the
manager of the ice cream stores in Dawson and Brookings, S.D. She also assisted
in the opening of a store in Watertown, S.D.
She moved to Gardiner in 1946 and renewed her friendship with Ervin “Swede”
Quist. They were married in the fall. They lived in Gardiner, Idaho Falls,
Idaho, and Livingston.
Florence was an immaculate housekeeper and excellent cook and baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Esther; brothers, Irwin and
Orville; and her husband.
Survivors include her three sons, Frank (Anne Marie) and Dennis, all of Mount
Vernon, Wash., and Curt (Jeanette) of Butte; five grandchildren, Monica Quist
and Cheryl Quist of Mount Vernon, Davin (Amie) Quist of Butte, Ian (Kaylan)
Quist and Alysha (Reuben) Vold, all of Missoula; and five great-¬grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, in Gold Hill
Lutheran Church, Butte, with the Rev. Mike Borge officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp, c/o Gold Hill Lutheran
Church or American Lutheran Church in Livingston.
