Milo Stordahl
December 25, 1934 - March 30, 2006
Milo Stordahl went to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 30, 2006, with his family by his side after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson's disease and cancer.
Milo was born on Christmas Day 1934, east of Conrad, to John and Mary Stordahl. He graduated from Conrad High in 1953 and attended Northern Montana College in Havre before joining the Army's 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Ga. He also attended basic airborne training at Fort Campbell, Ky., as a parachutist.
After returning from the service, he met and married Phyllis DePratu of Fairfield, and settled in Conrad where he began his career in the lumber business and started their family. His lumber and building materials career led him to Big Sandy, Great Falls and Butte, where he managed the United Building Center for 19 years. In 1988, Milo and two of his sons founded Triple "S" Building Center.
Milo was President of the Montana Lumberman's Association and served on the board of the five-state Western Building Material Dealers Association. During this time, Milo received many awards including Dealer of the Year in 1992.
Milo had a great love of family - his immediate family, church family, and lumber industry family. He was an active member of the Gold Hill Lutheran Church. He will be missed by all members of this large extended family.
Milo is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of 48 1/2 years, their six children and spouses, and 14 grandchildren: sons and daughters-in-law, David and Revonda Stordahl and Doug and Lyn Stordahl of Butte, Darrel and Gerri Stordahl of Montana City and John and Wanda Stordahl of Stevensville; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Jesse Bestgen of Butte and Debra and Kevin Seymour of Silver Bow; grandchildren, Angela and Moose Stillwagon of Missoula, Chris, Joe and J.J. He is also survived by his Aunt Mabel of Conrad whom he dearly loved and was looking forward to celebrating her 104th birthday party with her this week. Milo also had a great love for his sisters and brothers-in-law by marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Stordahl, and grandson, Kyle Stordahl.
